Q: Tell us something
about your family background.
A:My father works in a medicine company, my mother is a home maker.
Basically, I am an adopted child. My uncle and aunty adopted me. My uncle is an
architect while my aunt is a home maker. No one works in media from my family,
I am the only one.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I have done graduation in Physics along with Graphic Designing.
I have also given CSS exam.
Q: Was coming in media your dream or your fate brought you here?
A: I think, media was the most appropriate field I came in. My
parents wanted me to focus on my studies
and they made me give CSS exams but I was interested in media.
Q: When did you start working in MazaqRaat?
A: I started working as a Co-Host in MazaqRaat. Basically, the work
of a Co-Host is to manage the start, breaks and end of a program. I have been
in media for 12 years and have worked in MazaqRaat for about 3-4 years.
Q: What do you like most, singing, rapping, television or film
industry?
A: I like all the mediums of entertainment. I
don’t want anyone to interfere in my personal life. But when it comes to
professional life, I like everything whether it is writing poetry, writing,
singing or composing songs etc. From RJing to news anchoring, I have done
everything. Behind all this success are my mother’s duas and well wishes.
Q: After doing NamaloomAfraad and its sequel, are you interested in
making NamaloomAfraad 3?
A: Yes, surely. Our team has decided to take a break and then work
further on NamaloomAfraad.
Q: Tell us something about your upcoming projects.
A: I am working on my second drama serial, “Miyas”, right now.
Q: Like your professional life, is your sense of humor the same in your
personal life?
A: In my personal life I am a very different personality, unlike my
professional life because obviously that is my job so I have to fulfill its
requirements. People who know me on-screen when they meet me off-screen they
get highly disappointed and complain that I seem totally different. But what I
think is that they should respect both the aspects of my life.
Q: Who is your role model?
A: Role models keep changing with the passage of time. Like when I
was fond of playing cricket, Waseem Akram was my role model. When I started
singing, Sajjad Ali, SonuNigham, Muhammad Rafi became my role models. In acting
I have various role models: Shahrukh Khan, Amir Khan, Noman Aijaz, Irfan Khan
and the list is endless. When I started my career, it felt as if my role models
have changed. Now I can do news anchoring as well. When I started news
anchoring on Geo, I started watching Fox News and other news channels as well.
Since, my career was changed, my role models also changed.
Q: What are your hobbies in leisure time?
A: When smart phones were not that viral, I used to write poetries
in my leisure time. I do write them now as well but I think now cell phone
takes my majority time. Using social media, surfing the net, etc have now
become my hobbies. But still I make sure that these things don’t affect my
work. I still manage time for writing or reading poetries.
Q: Define who is Mohsin Abbas?
A: I think you should ask the people who know me, they would tell
better than me. Personally I think that I am a boring personality. I am a dry
person who prefers loneliness and enjoys his own company. Both on and
off-screen I am a very different person and I like it. It is a famous quote of Charles Bukowski:“I don’t hate people, I
just feel better when they aren’t around.”
Q: According to you, what are the basic lackings and problems of our
society that stop us from prosperity?
A: Personally, I think that we all have basic education and it
effects everyone including the society. There are two things: One is education
and the other is up-bringing. I think there is lacking in the up-bringing. A
society which does not know the rules and regulations of driving on the road,
the use of public toilet, what do you expect from them? Are they really
educated, well-mannered and sophisticated?
I am that kind of a person who
stops at the signal at 3 a.m. at night and if I commit any mistake regarding
traffic rules I am ready for fine. We all will have to put our input to educate
people. We should set examples for others to follow so that together we can
move towards the prosperity of society.
Q: Share any memorable memory of your life?
A: I sung “Yaadtouaatihogi?” in MazaqRaat, which was originally
sung by Sajjad Ali. I got praised for it especially from Sajjad Ali that I have
sung his song very well. At that time I was on the set of Muqabil Drama and was
on a patient’s bed, when I actually came to know what the urdu idiom, “Phoolay
Na Samana” meant. I called everyone and told them that Sajjad Ali has shared my
song on his page and written words of appreciation for me. I was really happy
at that time and it was a memorable moment of my life.
Q: Your message for the youth of society and the young actors of media
industry.
A: Everyone should fulfill their responsibility. Basically there
are two types of goodness: One is to keep it a secret and the other is to show
it to people so that they would also do it. I try doing both of them to be a
better person of society. A lot of things like this are written in books and
are discussed on TV but they are of no use because nobody acts upon them. But
still I would say that each one of us should follow the rules and regulations
of our society to make our country shine and the people proud.
