Muslims After 9/11 2001 to 9/11 2017
Muslims experienced very different treatments in America 15 years ago.
"There was a sense of intrigue, it was something different", said Adam Soltani, the executive director of the council on American Islamic Relations in Oklahoma chapter of how others viewed Islam, but i didn't sense any fear in being Muslim at all. The lives of Muslims were categorized into pre-9/11 and post 9/11 lives.
After the incident of 9/11 (World Trade Centre) in which almost 3000 people died, the whole world was in trauma and the real battle between Americans and Muslims had started. Muslims were named as terrorists. Many Muslims hide their religion in order to save their lives. Muslims also faced the attack led to examine their faith and they encounter with Islamophobia and it becomes a part of their daily lives. Even kids were blamed for incident. The air travel was suddenly become humiliating for Muslims and it is still continue.
In the wake of different terrorist attack like London, Madrid, Paris and the recent on Brussels in which Muslims are considered as responsible for these attacks, Muslims men, women and children facing criticism even on streets. Almost 300 hate crimes were increased against Muslims in UK after Paris attack in 2015. Moreover, Muslims were not save on social sites. They were continuously targeting and abusing after Brussels attacks. Muslims were also encounter with different hashtags like #StopIslam, #MuslimsAgain were trending on twitter.
In this modern world, there are some people who are still facing bigotry. Humanity comes before any religion, every individual should understand this fact and don't make it difficult for anyone to take breath freely.
